Abstract

Uzbekistan has embarked on a series of ambitious reforms aimed at modernizing its higher education management system. This paper examines the transformation from a centrally controlled framework towards a more autonomous and qualitydriven system aligned with global standards. It explores the key developments, persistent challenges, and prospects of higher education governance in Uzbekistan. Through analysis of policy documents, recent reforms, and international cooperation efforts, the study highlights the critical role of leadership, digitalization, and quality assurance in sustainable education
