Abstract

This paper explores the impact of formative assessment on student learning in the classroom. Formative assessment, unlike summative assessment, is ongoing and provides immediate feedback to both students and teachers. By using various
formative strategies such as questioning, peer assessment, and self-reflection, educators can better understand student needs, adjust instruction accordingly, and create a more student-centered learning environment. The study, based on
qualitative research involving secondary school teachers and students, found that formative assessment improved academic performance, increased motivation, and encouraged active participation in the learning process.
