Abstract

This article examines the changes in the field of education in Turkestan during the rule of the Russian Empire. It provides a detailed analysis of the educational institutions established during the colonial period, including the "new method" schools, "Russian-tuzem" schools, gymnasiums, and polytechnic institutions. The introduction of the Russian education system in Turkestan was accompanied by the creation of administrative bodies to oversee educational affairs. These included the establishment of the Main Directorate of Educational Affairs of the Turkestan Region and its local authorities, such as district
inspections. This structure highlighted the significance that the colonial administrators placed on the education system in the region.
